GAT GENERAL TEST Solution of Sample 1 Questions (Quantitative)

Solution of Sample 1 Questions (Quantitative)
1. suppose W= women and M=men
so 8(2M+3W) = 1 hence
(for 8 days) 2M+3W=1/8 ----- (1)
hence 12(4M+5W) = 1 so
(for 12 days) 4M+5W=1/12  ----- (2)
mutiply eq(1) by 2 4M+6W=1/4 now subtract eq(2) from it

   4M + 6W = 1/4
   4M + 5W = 1/12
- --------------------------
    0   + 1W = 1/4 - 1/12 = (3-1)/12 = 1/12
  1W = 1/12 hence 12W = 1 so 12 women can complete a task in a day.

2. Suppose Ali is X years old. And Asif is 30 years old. (Present)
three years before Ali was10 years older then Asif so Asif was 30-3=27 years old. (3 year before)
Ali was 10 years older than Asif= 10+ 27=37 years old (3 year before)
So now Ali is 27+3=40 years old.

3. Answer is c 654*654= 427716

4. X=13 and Y= 10 so X-Y=13-10=3

5. Total time/ number of question=120/100=12/10=6/5=1.2 minutes

6. Average=Sum of all the quantities/No. of quantities so, 75 = Sum of all the quantities/5 and Sum of all the numbers=75*5=375.

7. Percentage=obtained value / total value * 100,
    number of boys=obtained value=X,
    60=X/55*100 and X= 60*55/100 --> X=6*55/10 -->
    X= 3*55/5 --> X=3*11= 33 boys.
   Hence 55-number of boys= number of girls
         55 - 33 = 22 girls

8. sum of all the angles of a triangle= 180 so <A+<B+<C= 180 therefore 40+20+<C=180 <C=180-40-20 hence <C= 120.

9. Area of triangle= 1/2 b*h
first we  find the coordinates of point M, which is the mid point of AB
so M(x,y) = ( (0+10)/2 , (0+0)/2 ) = M(5, 0)
Now as we know b = length from point A to B and h = length from point C to M
b = 10cm and h = 5cm (you can find these values by observation or distance formula)
so Area of triangle = 1/2 * b * h = 1/2 * 10 * 5 = 5 * 5 = 25 cm2

10. P=2/68776 so P= 1/34388

11. If March after 12, 24,36,48 months it will be March again so 49 will be April and 50 will be May.

12. sum of all the angles of a triangle= 180 so <a+<b+<c= 180 therefore 30+70+<c=180, <c=180-30-70 hence <c= 80.

13. GAT GENERAL TEST 3x+2 =81
 we can write it as

3x+2 =81
3x * 32=81 //breaking power.

3x * 9=81
3x=81/9
3x=9

32=9, so X=2

14. 2b = B and 2a=A so AB= 2a * 2b= 2a+b

15.(X+1)(X-1)= X2-1 because according to formula (a+b)(a-b)=a2-b2 so a=X and b=1 and given is
X2 = 21 hence (X+1)(X-1)= X2-1=21-1=20.

16. 6+7+8=21
7+8+9=24
 8+9+10=27
13+14+15=42 so 26 cannot be stated as the sum of three consecutive integers. answer is c.

17. (a-b) 2= a2-b2
if a=0,
(0-b) 2= 02-b2 then (-b) 2= -b2 so its true.
if b=0,

(a-0)2=  a2-02then (a)2= a2 so its true.
if a= -b , (-b-b) 2= (-b)2-b2
then (-2b) 2= -2b2 then 4b 2= -2b2 so its false. Answer is c.

18. prime number less than 15 are 2 , 3 , 5 , 7 , 11 , 13 ,
if we take 7, 11 and 13 then p=11, q= 13 and r= 2 (we want gretest number so we take smaller number as divisor and big numbers as dividend from these prime numbers)
(p+q)/r= 11+13/2=24/2=12
Answer is d.

19. 5x=15 so x=15/5 , x=3, 3x=3*3=9 Answer is b.

20.  1/a= 3  and  a/b=1/9
      a/b=1/9      9/b=1/a       9/b=3       9/3=b       b=3
21.
NTS  GAT solution

For a) x=1
7 1+1 + 1
72 + 1
49+1
50
So option a is wrong
For b) x=2
7 2+1 + 1
73 + 1
343+1
344 so option b) x=2 is right answer.

22. GAT General Test Solution:

As we know that sum of all angles is

180 so <A+<B+<C=180
 60+60+<C=180
<C=180-60-60
<C=60
All angles are same so it is an equilateral triangle. In an equilateral triangle all angles are same and all sides are same so the length of side AC is 5cm as side AB and BC.

23. A's percent= A,s Rent/ Total rent * 100
Total rent= 1000+1500= 2500
A's percent = 1500/ 2500 * 100 = 1500/25 = 300/5 = 60% so the answer is A.

  4. Question N.o 1 answer is wrong
    0 + 1W = 1/4 - 1/12 = (3-1)/12 = 1/12
    (3-1)/12 = 2/12=1/6

  7. I think there is a calculation error for question 1
    0 + 1W = 1/4 - 1/12 = (3-1)/12 = 1/12
    should be corrected as 0 + 1W = 1/4 - 1/12 = (3-1)/12 = 2/12=1/6
    1W = 1/16 hence 6W = 1 so 6 women can complete a task in a day
